About Me

I am a Professor of Information Systems at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. Previously, I was an Associate Professor of Strategy at Harvard Business School and of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management at MIT Sloan. I hold a PhD in economics from Princeton University, and have Romanian, French and U.S. citizenship.

My research and teaching focus on businesses based on network effects (e.g., Airbnb, Amazon, Meta, Uber) and data feedback loops (e.g., Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Tesla). I leverage my research to advise and angel invest in startups attempting to build marketplaces or data-enabled products, and to consult with companies seeking to turn their products into platforms.
